Luigi Sibona is a neurodivergent writer and director focusing on genre narrative and complex social themes. Through his creation of unexpected and visceral stories, he aims to subvert the norm - while never forgetting the joy of a ripping yarn.
After years spent directing music videos, he’s developed a distinctive visual style - accompanied by his long-standing DOP Jordan Stephens. Luigi’s BAFTA-qualifying first short film ‘Mantis’ propelled him into multiple BAFTA and Academy Award-qualifying festivals across the UK and abroad, winning numerous awards including Best Horror at The British Short Film Awards.
Luigi’s second BAFTA-qualifying short, ‘In Your Hands’, produced by Award-Winning production company Grey Moth, has been selected to play at the Academy Award-qualifying Tampere Film Festival, BAFTA-qualifying Aesthetica Short Film Festival and an ever-growing number of festivals worldwide garnering multiple awards including the Audience Award at the BIFA-qualifying North East International Film Festival and Best Short at the British Horror Film Festival.
Luigi is in production on his third short, ‘Far From The Plains’, which he co-wrote with writer Niellah Arboine, working again with Grey Moth as well as Noir Productions. All the while he is writing and developing a number of other projects, including his first feature. -
