This workshop shines a light on how to approach TV producers and position yourself in the best possible way to get your work seen.
This event has passed.
In this workshop, we are joined by Sarah Mills:
Sarah Mills is a disabled writer, performer, stand-up, content creator and passionate campaigner around invisible disability.
In 2020 Sarah won the BAFTA Rocliffe award for TV Comedy (for her sitcom BADASS, based on her own experience of Colon Cancer) and was immediately signed by a comedy agent.
Prior to this she worked in TV Comedy Entertainment as a Producer, working on shows like Matt Forde's Unspun, Big Brother's Little Brother and Charlie Brooker's Election Wipe
Our sessions aim to be as hyper-specific and approachable as possible.
There will be an opportunity to ask questions.
Each session will be recorded for those who want to participate but are unable to attend on the day.
Each session will also begin with a brief introduction of yourselves and where you feel you are at in your career. You are encouraged to have your video on display and to have a pen and paper present.
We have a limited number of concession tickets available on a first-come-first-serve basis. If you identify as working class, are currently on benefits, or if you consider yourself to be financially disadvantaged in a way that is hindering your progression in your career, these tickets are available to you.
Where does the money go?
Underscore Studios is unfunded and comprised of three volunteers. We believe that upskilling yourself should be affordable, engaging, and transparent. The money towards Workshops such as these means that we can keep them as low as they are, pay our Freelance Workshop leaders, support the organisation to be sustainable, and when we can, make more of our services available for Free.
