In this in-depth workshop, professional voice actor Shaun Mendum (Baldur’s Gate 3, Wuthering Waves, NHS, Audible) will break down the business of voice acting, offering practical advice on getting started, booking work, and standing out in a competitive industry.

From understanding different types of voiceover work to navigating agents and more!

This session is packed with essential insights for aspiring and early-career voice artists.

  • Shaun is an actor and voice actor based in London.

    Most known for his work in video games, Shaun has featured in numerous projects, including BAFTA-winning Baldur’s Gate 3, critically acclaimed Wuthering Waves, and BAFTA-nominated Sky documentary Forced Out. He has also worked as an actor/VO for clients including Vitality Heath, Emirates, the NHS, and Audible.

    Originally a professional ballet dancer, Shaun brings his theatrical experience into the world of voice acting. He also works as a writer and producer, in projects including BBC4’s The Jacket, and upcoming audio anthology Cloud 9, which gives him a unique perspective both in front and behind the camera/mic.

    He is incredibly passionate about opening doors to enable a thriving community of collaborative creatives, and the freedom that voice acting provides the actor in telling unique and diverse stories.

  • ATTENDANCE
    If you can't attend the event on the day. We’ve got you covered. This workshop will be recorded and available for you always.

    CAPACITY
    We have a limited number of concession tickets available on a first-come-first-serve basis. If you identify as working class, are currently on benefits, or if you consider yourself to be financially disadvantaged in a way that is hindering your progression in your career, these tickets are available to you.

    WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO?
    Underscore Studios is unfunded and comprised of three volunteers. We believe that upskilling yourself should be affordable, engaging, and transparent. The money towards Workshops such as these means that we can keep them as low as they are, pay our Freelance Workshop leaders, support the organisation to be sustainable, and when we can, make more of our services available for Free.
