Screenwriting: Story Structure
Professionally craft your story - Jon Barton
This event will take place over Zoom from 1:30pm - 3pm (BST) on August 15 2021.
This drop-in workshop is aimed at all levels.
Whether you’re approaching a brand-new project or already working on one, understanding story structure is a must for all writers!
In this workshop, we are joined by Jon Barton:
Jon Barton is a London-based screenwriter with ten years’ experience as a dramatist, writing continuing drama for the BBC, and new work for young people. His theatre work has been produced onstage at major London venues, including The Old Vic and The Almeida, with screen work under option at Northern Ireland Screen and Netflix UK.
He is also part of the BFI Network x BAFTA Crew 2021 programme.
Our sessions aim to be as hyper-specific, practical, and as approachable as possible. Our workshop leader will guide you through the process of structure and help you create a more compelling story.
It’s important to us to remain as open and interactive as possible, therefore there will exercises involved but nothing to prepare ahead of the workshop and resources will be made available at the end of the session. Additionally, there will be an opportunity to ask questions.
Each session will be recorded for those who want to participate but are unable to attend on the day.
Each session will also begin with a brief introduction of yourselves and where you feel you are at in your career. You are encouraged to have your video on display and to have a pen and paper present.
We have a limited number of concession tickets available on a first come first serve basis. If you identify as working class, are currently on benefits, or if you consider yourself to be financially disadvantaged in a way which is hindering your progression in your career, these tickets are available to you.
