Short Filmmaking: Choosing the right idea

from £12.00

This event will take place over Zoom from 1:30pm - 3pm (BST) on 27th November 2022 .

Our last session with Mariella Hudson was so insightful that we’ve decided to welcome her back for our next Class!

Are you interested in making a short film but struggling to develop ideas?

The ideation stage of any project is arguably the most challenging part. What makes a short film work? What is interesting? What do people want to see? What do you care about?

This class is aimed at those interested in writing or directing a short film. Perhaps you have done so already, or you are entirely new to the venture. Either way, let’s jump in!

—

Mariella Hudson is an Irish-Peruvian Londoner and writer-director for screen and stage. She wrote the screenplay for the 90-second film HEADSPACE which was selected for Encounters Film Festival and Manchester Film Festival. Her short plays have been selected by and performed for Latinx Scratch, CultureClash Theatre, CAKE Theatre and Camden People's Theatre SPRINT Festival. She has an MFA with Distinction in Writing for Stage and Broadcast Media from The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.

We have a limited number of concession tickets available on a first-come-first-serve basis. If you identify as working class, are currently on benefits, or if you consider yourself to be financially disadvantaged in a way that is hindering your progression in your career, these tickets are available to you.

Where does the money go?
Underscore Studios is unfunded and comprised of three volunteers. We believe that upskilling yourself should be affordable, engaging, and transparent. The money towards Workshops such as these means that we can keep them as low as they are, pay our Freelance Workshop leaders, support the organisation to be sustainable, and when we can, make more of our services available for Free.

**

We are aware that even the cost of a concession ticket may be a key barrier for many people.

With this in mind, we are pleased to be able to offer 1 Free place on this course.

Bursary places such as these, will be offered on a first come first serve basis.
